Valsaraj is Associate Professor and Head, F&B Service at Welcomgroup Graduate School of Hotel Administration, Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Manipal, India
Valsaraj holds Bachelor of Science in Botany, Bachelor of Hotel Management ,Master in Human Resource Management and Advance Food safety Trainer Certificate from Train Can Canada. He worked as chef and flight cateing manager in the Tourism and Hotel Industry in Bahrain and Dubai for three years. He has more than 23 years of teaching experience.
Valsaraj has 12 research publications in Scopus index journals and 4 book chapters. He was appointed as one of the judges for All India National Ice Cream Competition 2010, organized by Danisco Portugal and Indian Dairy Association. Valsaraj has developed various products from indegeneous food ingredients and applied for the patent. His rescent product development reserch is on the GI tagged Uduppi Mattu Gulla ( a variety of brinjal) and indigenous jackfruit products.
He completed his 2 years Integrated Management and Leadership Fellowship from Manipal Academy of Higher Education.
Valsaraj was the former Head of Department of Allied Hospitality Studies, WGSHA, Manipal Academy of Higher Education. and Centre for Tourism & Hospitality Research. He has conducted several community programs, extension activities , Women empowerment programs , Capacity building workshops ,Cultural & food festivals for department of Tourism, Udupi
Valsaraj provides consultancy services to Udupi District Tourism Department and Mantra Tourism Development Company, Udupi. He is the task force leader for the Mangalore Health Tourism Project under Smart City Project of District Administration, Mangalore.
His research interests are in Tourism, Food & Beverage Products Development, Service Quality, Wines etc.
