About
Dr Kuncham Syam Prasad, awarded Gold Medal for his first rank in M. Sc., Mathematics in the year 1994 from Acharya Nagarjuna University. He was a recipient of CSIR-Senior Research Fellowship (1997); awarded M. Phil., (in Graph Theory) in 1998, and Ph.D. (in Algebra – Nearring Theory) in the year 2000 under the guidance of Dr Bhavanari Satyanarayana. Subsequently, he has continued as a Post-Doctoral fellow (SRF (Extended)-CSIR) about eleven months at Acharya Nagarjuna University; he then joined as Assistant Professor in the institute: Manipal Institute of Technology. He has published 70 research papers in reputed journals, besides, he has presented research papers / invited talks in the International Conferences held at Alabama USA (1999), Germany (2003), Taiwan (2005), Ukraine (2006), Austria (2007), Thailand (2008), Indonesia (2009), Malaysia (2010), New Orleans / Ohio (USA)– Center for Ring Theory and Applications (2011), Oman (2012), Turkey (2013), South Africa (2013 (Bloemfontein), 2023 (Potchefstroom)), South Korea (ICM-2014), Romania (2016), UAE (2017), Brazil (ICM-2018-under Open Arms Travel Grant for developing countries), Iran (2018), and Azerbaijan (2019), and Sri Lanka (2024). He also visited the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, Hungary for joint research work with Dr Bhavanari Satyanarayana (2003), and Scientific discussions at Department of Algebra, A. Renyi Institute of Mathematics (HAS). He has been selected for the INSA Bilateral Scientists Exchange Program (2018) and visited Yazd University (3-weeks) for collaborative research with Prof. Bijan Davvaz. He has co-authored nine books (UG/PG level) of which two books by the prominent publishers: “Discrete Mathematics and Graph Theory (2e-available) (Prentice Hall India Ltd.)”, and Nearrings, Fuzzy Ideals and Graph Theory (2013, CRC Press, UK/USA), Co-Editor of Review Volume entitled: Nearrings, Nearfields and Related Topics (2017, World Scientific, Singapore). He is also a recipient of National Level Best Research Paper Prize for the year 2000 by the Indian Mathematical Society (IMS) for his research in Algebra. He received INSA Visiting Fellowship Award (2004) for the collaborative Research Work at ANU. He has supervised 6 doctoral students, and presently guiding 4 students with Dr TMA Pai Fellowship at Manipal. He has organized 6 National / International Conference of which a notable one entitled: 24th International Conference on Nearrings and Nearfields at MIT Manipal (in the year 2015). He is a Life member of eight academic organizations. Presently working as Professor and Head in the Department of Mathematics, Manipal Institute of Technology, Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Karnataka, India. He has been a reviewer of some reputed journals in Algebra and Discrete Mathematics, and zbMATH, etc. He has served the Institute with other responsibilities like: Sr Warden, Chief-Warden-In-Charge (MIT Hostels), Research Coordinator in the Department of Mathematics, MIT, etc. Presently, Professor & Head, Department of Mathematics, MIT Manipal.
