About
Presently, Dr V. P. Chaudhary is working as Head, Agricultural Mechanization Division (AMD) & Principal Scientist (Farm Machinery & Power), ICAR-Central Institute of Agricultural Engineering, Bhopal. Now, he is focusing the area of research in Precision Agriculture, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Robotics, Internet of Things (IoTs), Drones in agriculture, we are also working for development of automatic /semi automatic transplanter of vegetables, seed drill/planter for CA i.e. punch planter with mechatronics of metering device, development of various soil engaging tools for different agricultural purposes, harvesting & threshing equipment etc. We are also working for development high value crop as cotton harvester, robotics harvester for horticulture & vegetables crops, potato combine, millet combine /harvester.
Dr V. P. Chaudhary graduated in Agricultural Engineering in 1995 from Allahabad Agriculture Institute that was affiliated with the Allahabad University, Allahabad. Dr. Chaudhary obtained Master of Technology in Farm Power & Machinery Engineering and Ph. D. (Farm Machinery & Power Engg.) from G. B. Pant University of Agriculture & Technology, Pantnagar, Udham Singh Nagar, Uttarakhand in 1998 and 2001, respectively.
Dr Chaudhary joined as scientist (FMP) in August 2001 at ICAR- Project Directorate for Cropping Systems, Modipuram, Meerut, subsequently rename as ICAR- Project Directorate for Farming Systems in 2009 and again upgraded in year 2014 as ICAR-Indian Institute for Farming Systems Research, Modipuram, Meerut where he worked as Scientist, Senior Scientist & Principal Scientist till June 2023. He has acquired formidable expertise in the field of Agricultural Engineering with special interest in farm mechanization, small tools & equipment, small farm mechanization, energy in agriculture, crop residue management, climate smart conservation agriculture, food processing & material handlings, concept of thermodynamics and heat engines etc.
He has impressive list of publications including 50 research papers in journals of National and International repute, 45 popular science articles, 5 technical bulletins, 4 books, 5 training manuals, 10 extension folders, 6 book chapters and 60 presentations in different national and international conferences/seminars.
He is also member of board of studies and examiner for B. Tech., M. Tech. and Ph.D. in the different universities. He has visited several counties including United States of America, Israel, Bangladesh in academic pursuit Dr. Chaudhary’s research work has been recognized at different levels and awarded eight awards by various scientific bodies /Institutions.
