About
Gold Medalist M.D. and Ph.D. in Dravyaguna Vigyan (Traditional Pharmacology) from Gujarat Ayurved University, Jamnagar in 2000 with Yagneshwar Gopal Dixit Scholarship.
Joined as Director – Institute of Teaching and Research in Ayurveda, Jamnagar on February 7, 2025. With her extensive background in academics, administration, and research, and public health with over three decades of experience, she is trying to elevate the ITRA to the level of Institute of National Importance also leading from the front and represent the Ministry of Ayush to establish the Global Traditional Medicine Centre at Jamnagar
she has taken various important administrative initiatives like Harmonization of HR issue, Promotion of staff, streamlining recruitments, finalization of Recruitment Rules for various posts. Academic activities like Convocation, sports activities, cultural activities, extracurricular activities, Gyanotsava, Exhibition – Swadostsava, Chitan Shibir on Academics. Also successfully conducted International Conference – AYUR Gericon 2025, National Seminar – Ayurved Rasamimamsa. Initiated collaboration with Heartfulness with a vision to Green I.T.R.A., Ayurveda in digital health in collaboration with WHO, IMR budget increased form 10 lacs to 25 lacs, MoU with NIPER, IIT- Delhi, ICatRac- Mumbai, Vantara, IIM -Ahmedabad.Taken steps for the renovation and face lifting of I.T.R.A. campus, permission for of hostel 900 students, approval for 100 acers land for Global Ayurveda Village, Coordinating actively with GTMC,CPWDfor the timely completion of GTMC building.
Having three-decade vast experience in the academic, administrative and research fields,joined All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA), under Ministry of Ayush, New Delhi in 2016 as Professor, Deptt of Dravyaguna and ascended to Director of Institute from Feb. 2018and superannuated on 31st Oct 2024. Elevating the status as a center of excellence in Ayurvedic education and quality healthcare services, AIIA received A++ NAAC accreditation in its first cycle; NABH accreditation and obtained ISO 9001:2015 certificate. Successfully benchmarked and established satellite centre of AIIA at Goa & various extensions centres at Supreme court of India, Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA), Safdarjung Hospital, Arogya Vana-Kevadia, etc. to cater the needs of public health on a larger scale.
Proactively responded during the COVID-19 pandemic by converting AIIA Hospital into a dedicated healthcare center. To foster and promote good practices & research, 73MoUs (including 17 International partners) were signed for AIIA and around 50 MOUs for NMPB (during the stint as CEO in NMPB). Recipient of “Ayurveda Ratna” award from Indian Traditional Sciences – All Party Parliamentary Groups (ITS – APPG), United Kingdom.
Currently holding various important positions/ representative of Ministry of Ayush such asmember Task Force WHO, establishment of Global Centre for Traditional Medicine (GCTM) at Jamnagar; Convener of Working Group on formulation of Integrative Health System for NITI Aayog, Govt. of India etc.Also held important Govt positions as CEO, NMPB and Chairperson, HSSC, SKILL India.
During tenure of Dean, Faculty of Ayurveda & Unani Medicines, Delhi University, worked for developing framework of PhD curriculum for Ayurveda & Unani and currently working as Dean, Faculty of Homoeopathy Medicines, Delhi University for the same. Supervised 78 post-graduate and Ph.D. Scholars. Led >50 clinical research projects as Principal Investigator in various collaborative project of AIIA comprising UK, USA, Germany etc. Published > 200 articles in Indexed journals & authored 21 books in various languages like English, German & Marathi.
Earlier held position of Dean, Faculty of Ayurveda, Unani & Homoeopathy Medicines, Delhi University,Additional Director (Academics) & Medical Superintendent at Ch. Brahm Prakash Ayu. Charak Sansthan, under Govt. of NCT Delhi andalso served as Principal & Medical Superintendent of Tilak Ayurvedic College Pune.
