Dr. Zafar Iqbal carried out his PhD research on “Clinical and molecular genetic studies of leukemia” at University of the Punjab Lahore Pakistan and Rui-Jin Hospital, Shanghai Institute of Hematology, Shanghai Jiao-Tong University School of Medicine China, with some part of it at University of Tokyo Hospital Japan and King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre Riyadh.. After completion of his doctoral research work, he was awarded the degree of doctor of philosophy (PhD) in Molecular Genetics in 2007. From 2007-2008, he completed his post-doctoral fellowship in “Clinical Hematology/Oncology and Functional Medical Genomics” at Rui-Jin Hospital, Shanghai Institute of Hematology, Shanghai Jiao-Tong University School of Medicine China.
Dr. Zafar Iqbal served medical biotechnology unit at Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission, Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital & Research Centre Lahore, University of the Punjab Lahore and Ammar Medical Complex, Chughtai Lahore Laboratories Pakistan as consultant, scientist and faculty members. From 2010-2012, he served King Saud University College of Medicine, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia and pioneered molecular genetics pathology unit which is providing molecular testing for advanced diagnosis, prognostic stratification and anti-cancer treatment monitoring for hematological diseases, solid tumors and familial genetic diseases. He joined College of Applied Medical Sciences (CAMS), KSAU-HS Riyadh in November 2012 as assistant professor. Currently, he is teaching subjects of Molecular diagnostics, Medical Genetics, Medical Biology, Research Methodology and Genomic Medicine/Molecular Pathology at CAMS, College of Medicine and Department of Pathology, King Abdulaziz Medical City, National Guard Health Affairs, Alahsa. He is also chairing and giving his input in many committees related to Research, teaching and Quality Assessment and Academic Accreditation (AAA).
Dr. Zafar Iqbal has published a number of research articles and publications in ISI-indexed research journals. He also has many research awards from European and North American research societies. He also holds membership of many cancer, hematology and genetic research societies including American Association of Cancer Research, European Hematology Association and American Society of Hematology.
