Dr. Kishor Sarkar is a Professor and researcher specializing in biomaterials, polymer science, nanotechnology, and biomedical engineering. His research focuses on the design and development of advanced polymeric and hybrid materials for cancer therapy, drug and gene delivery, tissue engineering, regenerative medicine, bioimaging, and environmental remediation.
His expertise includes RAFT polymerization-mediated synthesis of smart stimuli-responsive polymers, including pH-sensitive, thermo-sensitive, light-sensitive, and multi-responsive systems for targeted therapeutic applications. He is actively engaged in developing biopolymer-based materials utilizing chitosan, collagen, alginate, cellulose, silk, and other natural polymers, as well as metal–organic framework (MOF)-based hybrid materials and carbon dot nanoplatforms for biomedical and environmental applications.
Dr. Sarkar's research also emphasizes sustainability through the valorization of plastic waste into high-value biomaterials, MOFs, and functional polymeric systems for tissue engineering and wastewater treatment. His work integrates fundamental materials science with translational biomedical technologies to address challenges in healthcare and environmental sustainability.
He has published extensively in international journals, supervised doctoral and postgraduate research, secured competitive research funding, and contributed to numerous books and book chapters in the fields of advanced biomaterials, smart polymers, nanomedicine, and regenerative engineering. His current interests include cancer nanotherapeutics, gene delivery, smart biomaterials, tissue regeneration, biosensing, and sustainable advanced materials.
