About
My name is Dr. Sonatan Das, and I have research background in optoelectronic sensors development for point-of-care device applications.
Previously, I worked as a research associate and post-doctoral fellow in the Department of Electrical Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, where I worked on the design and fabrication of MEMS detectors for portable photoacoustic sensor development. My work involved both fabrication and characterization, as well as integration of optical components for breath analyzer and toxic gas detection using infrared technology.
I completed my Ph.D. from the Center for Research in Nanotechnology and Science, Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT-Bombay) on-chip device design for optical sensing applications. During my Ph.D., I designed three different tabletop biosensors, resulting in seven publications and two patents. Additionally, I developed semiconducting functional polymers for point-of-care device design using the Nanofabrication facility of IIT Bombay.
One of my Ph.D. projects was selected by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, and I received a grant of 5 lakh rupees to design a prototype. Prior to joining the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, I worked at the Indian Institute of Science Bangalore as a UG teaching instructor, where I designed undergraduate lab courses and related experimental techniques for thin film material characterizations.
I completed my post-graduation in Physics (M.Sc) with a specialization in Nanomaterials and Nanotechnology from the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT-Madras), and I graduated (B.Sc) from the University of Calcutta with Physics as a major (Honours) and Chemistry, Math as minor subjects (General).
Apart from my academics, I enjoy outdoor sports activities like football, badminton, hiking, and trekking. I am a critical thinker with a collaborative mindset. Currently seeking a postdoctoral position or Assistant Professor/Tenure Track Faculty job where I can apply my expertise in optoelectronic sensor design for the development of point-of-care devices, working alongside experts from prospective organizations.
Thank you so much for taking the time to visit my profile.
