About
Prasanta Sahoo received Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering (Hons) from Jadavpur University and MTech and PhD from IIT Kharagpur. He is a Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Jadavpur University. He has more than 30 years of teaching and research experience in machine design and tribology/surface engineering and has supervised over 30 PhD theses so far. He has authored three books (with PHI, Springer and Cambridge University Press), edited four volumes (with IGI Global and Springer), written over 30 book chapters, and published more than 500 articles in peer-reviewed journals and conference proceedings. He has been ranked among the top 2% global scientists in Elsevier/Stanford University’s listing and among the top 1% global peer reviewers in Publons/Web of Science. He is a recipient of the prestigious INSA Teacher Award (a lifetime achievement award for teaching excellence from Indian National Science Academy) in 2021.
