About
Dr. Heiplanmi Rymbai obtained his Ph.D. (Horticulture-Fruit Science) from the prestigious Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi. He held distinguished scholarships (such as JRF, SRF, and MANF) while pursuing his studies. He started his career as an assistant professor at Navsari Agricultural University, Gujarat, and later joined the ICAR-ARS in 2013 at the ICAR Research Complex for the NEH Region, Umiam, Meghalaya. He is the principal investigator in 07 projects and a co-PI in 11 projects involving fruit crop breeding and production. He has published >53 research papers, 22 reviews or popular articles in peer-reviewed journals, and 13 book chapters. He has developed 09 varieties: guava (Megha Magenta, Megha Supreme, Megha Wonder, and Megha Seedless), colocasia (Megha Taro-1), and gerbera (RCGH-12, RCGH-22, RCGH-114, RCGH-117, and RCGH-28). He was involved in the development of five fruit improvement and yield enhancement technologies. He has also collected and conserved more than 70 species of fruit and flowering plants and obtained an IC number from NBPGR. He has experience in teaching and research in the field of horticulture and is also a member of the editorial board and a reviewer for reputed professional journals.
