About
Dr. Arindam Sarkar is a distinguished academic and researcher in applied mathematics, with a profound focus on fluid dynamics and computational modeling. As of June 2025, he will assume the role of Assistant Professor in the School of Computing at MIT Vishwaprayag University in Solapur. His career is built upon a strong foundation of both teaching and intensive research, including a notable tenure as a Mathematics Faculty at St. Xavier's University, Kolkata, and over five years as an Assistant Professor at the Dr. B.C. Roy College of Pharmacy & AHS in Durgapur.
Academically, Dr. Sarkar has demonstrated exceptional merit. He earned his Ph.D. in Fluid Dynamics and Mathematics from the prestigious National Institute of Technology (NIT) Jamshedpur. His doctoral thesis, titled "A Mathematical Study on the Flow of Nanofluids with Hydromagnetic Boundary Layers using Spectral Method," underscores his expertise in a highly specialized and critical area of study. This was preceded by a first-class (second position) Master's degree in Mathematics from The University of Burdwan. His scholarly aptitude was recognized early on through his remarkable success in national competitive examinations, having qualified the CSIR-NET twice with All India Ranks of 64 and 41, and also clearing the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE).
Dr. Sarkar's research portfolio is both extensive and cutting-edge. His primary interests lie in boundary layer flows, the behavior of Newtonian and non-Newtonian fluids, heat and mass transfer, and flow through porous media. He is particularly noted for his work with nanofluids, hybrid nanofluids, and the application of advanced numerical techniques such as the Spectral Quasi Linearization Method (SQLM). His intellectual contributions are showcased in a prolific list of publications in numerous high-impact, peer-reviewed international journals, including the International Journal of Ambient Energy, Scientia Iranica, Thermal Advances, and Pramana – Journal of Physics.
An active member of the global scientific community, Dr. Sarkar has presented his research at various international conferences and workshops, from NIT Jamshedpur and the Indian Statistical Institute in India to the University of KwaZulu-Natal in South Africa. His expertise is further acknowledged through his role as a peer reviewer for several esteemed journals, including Scientific Reports (Springer Nature) and the South East Asian Journal of Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences. Dr. Sarkar's comprehensive academic background, significant research output, and dedication to the scholarly community position him as a formidable and influential figure in the field of mathematical sciences.
