About
Dr. Vijayakumar Krishnasamy was born and raised up in the town of Udumalpet which is located in Coimbatore, Tamilnadu, India. He obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering in the year 2006 from Coimbatore Institute of Technology (Govt. Aided Autonomous Institute), Coimbatore. He secured All India Rank 358 in GATE exam and obtained his M.Tech. Degree in Power Systems from National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli, Tamilnadu, India in the year 2009 with MHRD(Govt. of India) scholarship. Subsequently, He admitted as a Ph.D. Research Scholar with MHRD(Govt. of India) fellowship in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli and completed his dissertation in the year 2012. He also Selected for Canadian Commonwealth Fellowship-GSEP at University of Saskatchewan, Canada during his Ph.D. Further, He was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Nanyang Technological University, Singapore from Nov. 2012 to Dec. 2013. POSOCO-2014 Awardee for Doctoral category and listed his Ph.D. dissertation in top 10 among all IIT’s and NIT’s in the year 2014. The award is given by Power System Operation Corporation (POSOCO), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd, in partnership with the Foundation for Innovation & Technology Transfer, IIT Delhi.
Dr. Vijayakumar is currently working as an Associate Professor in the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Indian Institute of Information Technology Design and Manufacturing: Chennai, since 2018. Dr. Vijayakumar was an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering, Malaviya National Institute of Technology (Institute of national importance), Jaipur, Rajasthan, India 2013-2018. He also holds the Adjunct Faculty position at National Centre for Disaster Mitigation and Management, MNIT Jaipur. He received Young Scientist Award for Start-up research grant which was given by SERB - DST(Govt. of India) in the year 2015. He is also the Young Faculty Fellow of Ministry of Communications & Information Technology (Govt. of India) since 2016.
His research interest includes Design and Development of DSP based Power Electronics Controllers for Renewable Energy, Industrial Electronics and Control, Smart Grid, Power Electronics and Electrical Machines, FACTS Controllers and SMPS for telecommunication systems.
