Hospital Clínic de Barcelona, Fundación Centro Nacional de Investigaciones Cardiovasculares Carlos III, Universitat de Barcelona, Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona
About
She is a cardiologist trained at the Hospital Clinic (Barcelona 2004-2009) and further specialized in advanced cardiovascular imaging at the Mount Sinai Hospital (New York 2009-2010) and translational research at the CNIC (2011-present). She also has extensive training in research methodology (Master’s Degree in Statistical Sciences from the Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona 2004-2008, and Series of Statistics and Epidemiology at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health 2010-2011). She currently combines her work as a clinical cardiologist at the Hospital Clinic of Barcelona with her role as a translational researcher in IDIBAPs and CNIC (scientific visitant). In the last eight years, her research has focused on pulmonary hypertension and she currently leads a number of research lines on pulmonary hypertension. Her research centres on the use of non-invasive imaging (particularly magnetic resonance) for the diagnosis and monitoring of the disease and also on the development of new therapies. As a result of this work, Dr. García Alvarez has published numerous studies on pulmonary hypertension (16 manuscripts, mean IF=8.8). This track record includes recent important contributions to the field as the first author (Eur Heart J 2011 and JACC 2013) and last or corresponding author (BRIC 2016 and 2019, JACC Imaging 2015, Circulation Imaging 2016) and she has been PI of national grants from the Spanish Ministry of Health (Fondo de Investigaciones Sanitarias - PI13/02339 and PI17/00995) and Marato TV3 (20151730-31-32).
