About

Since I stepped into the fascinating yet challenging field of biological sciences, I have developed a keen interest in the areas of cell biology, protein biochemistry, and proteomics. Snakebite has been a severe problem for the rural population of tropical countries including India; however, scant attention has been paid to this area. Therefore, during my doctoral research, I focused on the in-depth analysis of the toxin composition of snake venoms using proteomic tools. This is of fundamental importance in understanding the geographical variation in venom composition, corresponding severity in envenomation, and requirement of discrete antivenom treatment. Further, I prefer interdisciplinary approaches to biological questions and therefore the application of proteomics to understand disease biology for biomarker discovery and therapeutics is my current research endeavour.
