Dr. G. Saravanan obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy (B. Pharm) from J.K.K.M.M.R.F. College of Pharmacy, B. Komarapalayam affiliated to The Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University, Chennai. He has obtained a Master’s degree in Pharmaceutical Chemistry (M. Pharm) from C. L. Baid Metha College of Pharmacy, Chennai affiliated to The Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University, Chennai. He has been awarded a Doctor of Philosophy in Pharmaceutical Sciences from Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad.
Dr. G. Saravanan has 02 patents for his credits, published Three textbooks, one book chapter, and has 83 original research publications in peer-reviewed international & national journals. He has presented 97 papers at various conferences. He attended around 106 international & national conferences and delivered 24 guest lectures at many national conferences/webinars. He has guided 35 M. Pharmacy projects & 14 B. Pharmacy projects. He is acting as an editorial board member of Anti-infective agents (Bentham science publisher) and a reviewer for many national and international journals. He also acted as a Chairperson/Judges in many national/international seminars/conferences and organized 10 National conferences & more than 32 webinars.
He is a college topper in B. Pharmacy and got a distinction in M. Pharmacy. He has received the best paper award six times. In 2018, he received the best teacher award & best researcher award from the MNR Educational Trust. He also secured the best achiever award in the year 2019 from the Association of Pharmacy Professionals (APP). In the year 2021, he received a distinguished professor award from the Indian Pharma Educational Society (IPES). In 2022 he received Best Faculty Award from the Tamil Nādu Association of Intellectuals and Faculty (TAIF) & GRABS Educational Trust, Global Eminent Researcher Award from VIJ Trust and Indian Scientist Award 2022 from International Research Association, United Kingdom. In 2023 he received the Guru Shiromani award from Prithvi Abhyudaya Educators Association-India (PAAI), India.
He is a registered pharmacist in India. He is a life member of many professional bodies such as the Association of pharmacy teachers of India (APTI), Indian Pharmacy Graduates Association (IPGA), Indian Pharma Educational Society (IPES), and Association of Pharmacy Professionals (APP).
He has outspread research knowledge in interpreting various analytical and spectroscopic techniques. The design and synthesis of small and macromolecules involving multi-step reactions are his research interest. Dr. G. Saravanan held various administrative positions also in his 17 years of teaching & research experience. Currently, he is working as a Professor in the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry & Analysis at the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Vels Institute of Science, Technology & Advanced Studies, Chennai, Tamil Nadu.
