About

Dr Shweta SHARMA has been working as an Associate Scientific Editor at Elsevier in the Social Sciences Portfolio since 2025. Before joining Elsevier, she taught at Sheffield Hallam University (SHU), UK and the School of Planning and Architecture in Vijayawada, India, for seven years. She also worked in various capacities with MNCs such as URS Scott Wilson, Knight Frank, and Lea Associates for three years.
A recipient of the Sheffield University Management School doctoral fellowship and Commonwealth Scholarship, Shweta received her PhD from the University of Sheffield, UK. She also holds an MSc in Transport Planning from the University of Leeds, UK, an MTech in Urban and Regional Planning from CEPT University, India and an MA in Geography from the Delhi School of Economics, India.
Shweta's research interests are wide-ranging, including working on the informal economy, gender studies, logistics and urban poverty. She has extensively published on various issues of street vendors, especially in the context of urban livelihoods and food security, over the past eleven years.
