Dr. Umesh R. Chinchmalatpure is Professor and Chief Extension Education Officer, Directorate of Extension Education, Dr. Panjabrao Deshmukh Krishi Vidyapeeth (PDKV), Akola, Maharashtra, and an accomplished agricultural extension professional. He completed his graduation and post-graduation from Dr. Panjabrao Deshmukh Krishi Vidyapeeth, Akola, and obtained his doctoral degree from Gujarat Agricultural University, Anand. He also holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Rural Development from Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), New Delhi.
He has been conferred the Young Scientist Award (2019) and ISEE Fellow Award (2026) by the Indian Society of Extension Education in recognition of his significant contributions to agricultural extension research. He has also received Best Paper Presentation Awards at national forums. He has served with reputed national and international research organizations, including the International Water Management Institute (IWMI) and the ICAR–National Research Centre for Soybean.
With rich academic experience, he has taught several undergraduate, postgraduate, and Ph.D. courses in Extension Education at PDKV, Akola. He has played a key role in the development and application of ICT tools, preparation of practical manuals and training modules, and strengthening capacity-building initiatives. He has led 25 university-level research projects on diverse extension and rural development issues, contributing to four major technology recommendations.
He is actively involved in organizing major extension activities of the University, including State-level Mega Agricultural Exhibition (AGROTECH), Shivar Pheri, Pre-Monsoon Krushi Melawa, and Mahila Melawa. He has authored Six books and published more than 85 scientific research papers in reputed peer reviewed national and international NAAS-rated journals. His professional work focuses on strengthening agricultural extension systems through innovation, capacity building, and evidence-based research.
