About

Rampal is a doctoral researcher at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Mandi, India. His research expertise lies in polymer composites, microwave-assisted materials processing, microwave-induced plasma generation, and plasma-based machining and drilling technologies. He has designed and developed in-house CNC-controlled microwave-induced plasma drilling system, with a strong emphasis on microwave-matter interactions and process optimization.

His work includes the fabrication of sustainable natural fiber-reinforced polymer composites, using microwave-assisted compression molding process. He has carried out extensive mechanical, thermal, and microstructural characterization using tensile, impact, hardness testing, DSC, and optical emission spectroscopy. His plasma diagnostics research focuses on investing the plasma composition and temperature.

During his Master’s dissertation, he gained hands-on experience in surface engineering and thermal spray coatings, including HVOF coating deposition, process parameter optimization, and characterization for enhanced surface performance. His broader research interests encompass sustainable composite materials, advanced manufacturing processes, plasma diagnostics, and surface modification. He actively contributes to peer-reviewed journals and interdisciplinary research in materials and manufacturing engineering.
