About
Dr. Palwinder Kaur is a passionate researcher specializing in gas sensor technology, environmental monitoring, and battery safety. She earned her Ph.D. in Engineering Sciences from AcSIR–CSIR-CSIO, Chandigarh, where she developed multivariable gas sensors using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) integrated with machine learning for the early detection of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and thermal runaway in lithium-ion batteries. With over five years of research experience, Dr. Kaur has contributed to interdisciplinary projects in sensor development, battery safety, and real-time monitoring.
She has held key research positions at CSIR-CSIO and completed an international research fellowship at Purdue University, USA, under the SERB Overseas Visiting Doctoral Fellowship. Her work has resulted in high-impact publications in ACS Sensors, Journal of Physical Chemistry C, and Batteries, along with a US patent application. Currently a WISE-SCOPE Scientist, she continues to work on intelligent sensing systems for early detection of thermal runaway using gas sensors.
Dr. Kaur's vision is to bridge scientific research with practical solutions for sustainable technologies. She actively mentors young researchers and promotes scientific outreach through collaborative projects. She is dedicated to contributing to global science and innovation, especially in the context of India’s energy storage and environmental challenges.
