Dr. T. Shanmuganantham is a Professor and Head of the Department of Electronics Engineering, Pondicherry Central University, Pondicherry.
He received a B.E. degree in Electronics & Communication Engineering from the University of Madras in the year 1996, an M.E. degree in Communication Systems from Madurai Kamaraj University in the year 2000 and a Ph.D. degree (He received Gold Medal) in the field of Antenna Engineering from the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Tiruchirappalli in the year 2010 under the guidance of Prof.S.Raghavan, Senior Professor (Retired), Dept. of Electronics & Communication Engineering, NIT, Tiruchirappalli. He has 25 years of experience in teaching currently, he has been a Professor in the Department of Electronics Engineering, School of Engineering & Technology, Pondicherry Central University, Pondicherry, since July 2010. Before this appointment, he was an Assistant Professor with the Dept. of ECE, PKIET (A Govt. of Pondicherry Institution), Karaikal and SSN College of Engineering, Chennai. He holds a Google Scholar H-Index of 21 and i-10 index of 71 with over 2196 citations, Research Gate score with over 1858 citations, research articles published in Web of Science-134, ORCID-115, SCOPUS-294 & IEEE Xplore-177 publications as per database available in researcher id also his name listed Top 10 researcher in Pondicherry University website (https://pondiuni.irins.org). His research area of interest includes Analysis, Optimization, Design, Development and Characterization of Antennas, Microwave/millimeter-wave/Terahertz Engineering, MEMS/NEMS, RF Design & Technology, Optical Communication Components & Subsystems and Specific antenna design for 5G/6G/7G, MIMO, Array antenna for beam forming and beam steering, Wireless on-body Communications (Wearable Antennas), in-body Communications (Implantable Antennas), Automotive, Healthcare, Satellite, Space, and Wireless industries.
He has published 236 papers in Peer Referred Journals, 426 papers in Conference Proceedings and 12 Book Chapters Published in Taylor and Francis, Springer Nature and Elsevier.
Professor Shanmuganantham is a Fellow of the Antenna Test and Measurement Society (ATMS) elected by ISRO Scientists and also elected as a Senior Member in URSI, Senior Member in IEEE, IEEE Antenna & Propagation Society, IEEE Circuits & System Society, IEEE Microwave Theory & Technique Society, Life Member in ISSS, IETE, IE (India), CSI (India), Society of ISTE, EMC, ILA, OSI and ISI. Also, he is a Member of the School Board, Pondicherry University, Member of Board of Studies at Pondicherry University, University of Madras, Annamalai University, Bharathiar University, Thiruvalluvar University and Christ University. His biography was included in ‘Marquis who is who in the world’, USA in 2010 & 2018, also his biography was selected in ‘Asia Pacific Who’s Who’ in 2018.
He is the Editorial Board Member of the Journal of Progress in Electrical Engineering, ICTACT Journal on Microelectronics; he served as Vice Chair of IEEE Circuits and Systems Society (India Council), New Delhi, from Jan.2016 to Dec.2019. He conceptualized and initiated three flagships IEEE–Sponsored Conferences in India in 2017, 2018 and 2019 in the fields of Circuit & Systems and Antenna Engineering. Currently, he has been serving as Chairman of the IEEE Antenna Propagation Society (Madras Section) since Jan.2020. (Received Best Society Chair Award for more events organized during the years 2020 & 2022)
He recipient the International Researcher Award from England in 2021, recipient of IEEE Best Researcher Award-2021 in Dec.2021, and he received more than 25 Best Paper awards from IEEE, Springer sponsored Conferences for his enormous Research contributions. 11 Ph.D. degree students have been awarded under his guidance, and He is currently guiding 05 Doctoral Research Scholars. He has completed two sponsored projects worth Rs.60 lakhs. He is a potential reviewer for IEEE Trans. on Antennas and Propagation, Microwave Theory and Techniques, Sensor, Access, PIER Journals, John Wiley, Elsevier, Taylor and Francis and many IEEE Conferences. He has been invited to many national and international conferences, and he has lectured extensively at many Universities/Institutions. He visited many countries like the USA, Malaysia, Singapore and Taiwan in connection with various academic assignments.
