Dr. Surabhi Bajpai is working as Associate Professor in Department of Zoology, Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Banaras Hindu University, previously she had been associated for 9 years as Assistant Professor in Department of Bioscience and Biotechnology, Banasthali Vidyapith since 2015. She has supervised 5 PhD students successfully with PhD degree successfully and many students are placed in institutes of reputation as postdoctoral fellow and faculties, currently one student is enrolled for PhD with her. She has also supervised 14 M.Sc. dissertation and one M.Tech. dissertation till date.
She performed her research on connexins the gap junction proteins in diabetic wound healing using STZ induced diabetic mice model and also fibroblasts cells(NIH 3T3) during her PhD Singh) and was awarded PhD degree from Department of Biochemistry, Banaras Hindu University, India under the mentorship of Prof. R. K. Singh (2011). She has keen interest in mechanisms underlying delayed wound healing in diabetes and she is now focusing on the early healing strategies for these chronic non healing wounds using advanced technologies like development of hydrogels. During her post PhD short tenure of 6 months as CSIR extended SRF at BHU she also taught Biochemisty and Instumentation and techniques to PG diploma students at Center for Genetic Disorder. Further in Postdoctoral research in capacity of DST INSPIRE Faculty at IIT Kanpur, she has worked independently in the lab of Prof. S Ganesh, Dean R& D at B.S.B.E. (Department of Bioscience and Bioengineering )IITK (Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur) she further worked on" role of toll like receptors in delayed wound healing in diabetes " using db/db mice model and J774macrophage cell lines .Thereafter she was offered a post of Assistant Professor at Department of Bioscience and Biotechnology, Banasthali Vidyapith(2015-continued) where she has begun her independent research career with a group of 5 research scholars. Her teaching interest covers Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Immunology, Cell biology and Cell culture. She has actively participated in various national and international conferences of repute. She is a member of Indian society of cell biology. She is a budding scientist and has contributed 30 publications in her short research career of eleven years with three book chapters (3 invited book chapters of high repute Elsevier). Her published articles have receiving good citations (over 644 citation, h-index: 12) and his received many prestigious fellowships and awards CSIR SRF (2010) and CSIR extended SRF (2012) and DST Inspire Award (2012), awarded by Department of Science and Technology, Government of India.
