About

Ángel G. Muñoz is the Chief Scientific Officer and Co-founder of Alisios Corporation, a boutique consulting firm working at the interface between advanced environmental and socio-economic monitoring & prediction and real-world decisions in food security, water, health, energy and climate-sensitive infrastructure. Over the last 19+ years I’ve moved from numerical modelling and advanced climate research into building operational services and products that organisations actually use.

At Alisios, I design and lead the implementation of climate and socio-economic information services and early-warning systems that help governments, international organisations and private clients to protect assets, de-risk investments and act earlier under a range of risks. Much of my work focuses on linking monitoring and weather observations to intraseasonal to decadal predictions, climate extremes and socio-economic impacts in a way that is technically solid and usable by non-scientists.

Typical services we deliver include:
• Climate-risk analytics for food security, water and energy planning
• Early-warning systems for floods, droughts and climate-sensitive diseases
• Forecast-based action and financial tools to transfer risk
• Capacity development for national meteorological and hydrological services, line ministries and international financial and development institutions
