About
Dr. Anupam Choubey is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology (RGIPT), Jais Campus, an Institute of National Importance. Prior to joining RGIPT, he was an Institute Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru (IISC Bengaluru). He received his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi), where his doctoral research focused on the physics and applications of electrohydrodynamic jets of polymeric solutions. He holds a B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering from the National Institute of Technology Silchar (NIT Silchar), where he graduated as a Gold Medalist.
Before transitioning to academia, he worked as an Executive Officer at Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), where he gained valuable industrial experience in retail operations and sales. This experience complemented his academic training and provided him with practical exposure to the engineering and energy sectors.
Building on this academic and industrial background, his research interests lie at the intersection of fluid mechanics, microfluidics, electrohydrodynamics, transport phenomena, additive manufacturing, and microfabrication. During his doctoral research, he developed experimentally validated scaling laws for steady electrohydrodynamic jetting of highly viscous and viscoelastic liquids, providing fundamental insights into Taylor cone-jet formation and the minimum flow rate required for steady jetting. He further translated these fundamental insights into a rapid, high-resolution EHD-jet printing technique for microfluidic device fabrication, leading to peer-reviewed publications and a published Indian patent application.
Extending his research into interdisciplinary applications, his postdoctoral work at IISc Bengaluru involved the development of microfluidic platforms for studying antimicrobial resistance and bacterial physiology, integrating principles of fluid mechanics, bioengineering, and biomedical device development.
His broader research interests encompass complex fluid flows and the development of scalable manufacturing technologies for applications in microfluidics, healthcare, biotechnology, and advanced engineering systems.
