About
I am Dr. Soumi Dutta, currently serving as a DST INSPIRE Faculty Fellow (Department of Science & Technology (DST), Government of India) at the Interdisciplinary Centre for Water Research (ICWaR), Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru. I was previously awarded the National Post-Doctoral Fellowship (NPDF) by the Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF) and the Institute of Eminence (IoE) Institute Post-Doctoral Fellowship (IPDF) at IISc. I obtained my Ph.D. from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur, completed my M.E. from Jadavpur University, and earned my B.E. in Civil Engineering from the University of Burdwan.
I am interested in developing innovative and sustainable solutions for water and wastewater treatment. My research focuses on advanced treatment technologies, particularly the design of cutting-edge nano-adsorbents and high-performance filtration membranes for water purification and remediation. My work addresses key challenges such as the removal of emerging contaminants, desalination, resource recovery, and circular economy approaches, while contributing to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). I am also keen to foster strong industry–academia collaborations to translate research innovations into scalable, real-world water treatment solutions.
