About
My postdoctoral work at National Cancer Institute, NIH, USA, involves exploring Cancer metabolism, Polyploidy, and Chromosome Instability.
My postdoctoral research projects at the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Hebrew University, Israel was focused on Alternative splicing, Cancer metabolism, Long Non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs), Signaling, and Diabetes. My postdoctoral research projects at the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Hebrew University, Israel were focused on alternative splicing, cancer metabolism, long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs), signaling, and diabetes. In one of my projects, we showed that insulin induces INSR exon 11 inclusion (INSR-B) in pancreatic beta cells through activation of the Ras-MAPK/ERK signaling pathway and up-regulation of the splicing factor SRSF1. In another project, we showed that the lncRNA MALAT1 is upregulated in Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and acts as a proto-oncogene through induction of oncogenic splicing factor SRSF1, activation of Wnt, and mTOR signaling pathways. In the third project, we studied the role of MALAT1 in regulating cancer glucose metabolism.
I completed my Ph.D. thesis with Prof. K.V. Venkatesh's laboratory in the Department of Biosciences and Bioengineering, IITB, which involved the characterization of the burden on growth due to unnecessary gene expression in natural and synthetic constructs utilizing lac operon and GAL regulon.
