Avishek Bhandari (Avi) is an associate professor in the Department of Accounting at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. Avi is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), licensed by the Accountancy Board of Ohio. He has taught Introduction to Financial Accounting, Introduction to Managerial Accounting and Auditing to undergraduate students; Analytics in Accounting to Master’s students; and research methodology and accounting seminar courses to doctorate students. He has chaired and supervised several doctoral students’ dissertations in a wide range of accounting topics. His research has been referenced in policy sources and picked up by more than 50 news outlets including Forbes, PR NewsWire and Columbia Law School’ Blog. His research has been published in Journal of Corporate Finance (JCF), Auditing: A Journal of Practice & Theory (AJPT), Accounting Horizons (AH), Journal of Accounting & Public Policy (JAPP), Journal of Business Finance & Accounting (JBFA), Accounting & Finance (AF), Issues in Accounting Education, Advances in Management Accounting (AMA), International Journal of Managerial Finance(IJMF), Review of Quantitative Finance and Accounting (RQFA), and Advances in Quantitative Analysis of Finance and Accounting (AQAFA). He has presented at multiple conferences including the American Accounting Association Annual Meeting, Midyear Meeting and the Southern Finance Association Annual Meeting. Avi’s research interests include auditing, financial reporting, corporate social responsibility, investments, insider trading, credit ratings and executive compensation. Avi earned a PhD, an MSA and an MBA degrees from Florida Atlantic University, Kent State University and Bowling Green State University.
