About
I am an Associate Professor in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at Kumaun University, Bhimtal (Nainital), Uttarakhand, India, with research interests in molecular pharmacology, peptide drug discovery, and translational therapeutics. My research aims to bridge fundamental pharmacological research with therapeutic innovation by identifying and developing novel bioactive molecules for the treatment of age-related diseases, including diabetes and associated complications.
Our research group focuses on the discovery and development of bioactive peptides as next-generation therapeutics, with a particular emphasis on diabetes and diabetes-associated cardiovascular complications. We employ multidisciplinary approaches that integrate molecular pharmacology, multi-omics technologies (proteomics and transcriptomics), peptide chemistry, and advanced in vitro and in vivo disease models to elucidate disease mechanisms, identify and validate novel therapeutic peptides, and facilitate their translation into clinically relevant drug candidates.
My research also encompasses peptide synthesis and characterization, pharmacological evaluation, and mechanism-of-action studies to advance peptide-based therapeutics from discovery to preclinical development. Current projects are directed toward the development of orally active peptide therapeutics with improved efficacy, stability, and bioavailability, addressing the limitations of conventional peptide drugs. Through collaborative and interdisciplinary research, my laboratory strives to develop innovative therapeutic strategies for diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, and other metabolic disorders, while contributing to the advancement of precision medicine and translational pharmacology.
