About
I am a molecular biologist and microbiologist with research interests in infectious diseases, host–pathogen interactions, antimicrobial resistance, and structure-based drug discovery. My research focuses on understanding the molecular mechanisms underlying the pathogenesis of Mycobacterium tuberculosis and translating these insights into novel therapeutic strategies.
During my Ph.D., I investigated the Enhanced Intracellular Survival (Eis/Rv2416c) protein of M. tuberculosis, exploring its functional role in bacterial virulence, immunomodulation, and intracellular survival, while identifying potential small-molecule inhibitors through integrated computational and experimental approaches. My current research is centered on the structure-based design and development of selective inhibitors against New Delhi Metallo-β-lactamase-1 (NDM-1) to address the growing challenge of antimicrobial resistance.
My expertise encompasses molecular cloning, recombinant protein expression and purification, enzyme characterization, microbiological and immunological techniques, molecular docking, virtual screening, molecular dynamics simulations, and experimental validation of drug candidates. I am committed to integrating computational and laboratory-based approaches to identify and validate novel therapeutic targets against multidrug-resistant bacterial pathogens.
My long-term goal is to contribute to the development of innovative antimicrobial therapies by combining molecular microbiology, structural biology, and computational drug discovery to address global challenges posed by tuberculosis and antimicrobial resistance.
