About

Dr. Ashish Verma is a Ph.D. from IIT Bombay and currently serving as Asst. Prof. of Transportation Engg. at Dept. of Civil Engg. and Centre for infrastructure, Sustainable Transportation, and Urban Planning (CiSTUP) at Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore, India. Before joining IISc, he has served in IIT Guwahati, and Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA). His research interest are in; sustainable transportation planning, public transport planning and management, modeling and optimization of transportation systems, etc. He has authored more than 100 research publications in the area of sustainable transportation and road safety. He is Editor of Transport Policy, Elsevier and editorial board member of other leading international journals of Elsevier, Springer, American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) and other publishers. He has also been guest editor of special issues of leading journals of Elsevier, ASCE, and Current Science, focused on sustainable transportation in India and developing countries. He has received DAAD and CONNECT fellowship from Humbolt foundation in the past, for collaborative research with Germany. He has also delivered Prof. SVC Aiya memorial and World Habitat Day theme lectures of Institute of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (IETE), India and Institution of Engineers (India), respectively. He is the Founding President of Transportation Research Group of India (TRG, www.trgindia.org), which is a registered society and has the mission to aid India’s overall growth through focused transportation research, education, and policies in the country. He is presently serving as Country Representative from India and Scientific Committee Member of World Conference on Transport Research Society (WCTRS) based in University of Leeds, UK. He is also Chair and Co-Chair of Special Interest Group (SIG) H3 and G6 of WCTRS, which are focused on transportation in developing countries and disaster resilience.
