About
I am a cardiovascular scientist with a strong foundation in pharmacology and molecular biology, dedicated to uncovering immune-metabolic mechanisms underlying heart disease in diabetes. I began my academic journey in India, earning a B. Pharmacy degree in 2006 and an M. Pharmacy in Pharmacology from Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU), Amritsar in 2008. From 2009 to 2012, I taught undergraduate and graduate students at the School of Pharmacy, Lovely Professional University, Phagwara, Punjab.
Driven by a passion for research, I pursued my PhD at the University of Otago, New Zealand, where I focused on the pathological role of cardiovascular microRNAs in diabetic heart disease. In 2017, I moved to the United States to begin my postdoctoral training at NYU, where I expanded my expertise in immunology, RNA biology, and metabolomics. I published my work in several high impact journals like Nature Immunology, Cardiovascular Research, Clinical Science, etc. I was promoted to the position of Research Scientist in 2022 and advanced to faculty and Investigator position at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School in 2024.
Currently supported by the American Heart Association Career Development Award, I lead a research program focused on microRNAs and their regulatory role in inflammation and vascular dysfunction in Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes. My work integrates RNA transcriptomics, flow cytometry, mouse models of atherosclerosis and metabolic profiling to identify novel therapeutic pathways. Committed to interdisciplinary collaboration and mentorship, I aim to translate basic science discoveries into targeted interventions to prevent cardiovascular complications in people with diabetes.
