About

Dr. Roopa Rao is affiliated with the University of Mumbai since 2008 and for over 10 years at S.N.D.T. University. She is an Assistant Professor with over 25 years of teaching experience and teaches at the post-graduate and undergraduate levels at the College of Home Science Nirmala Niketan, Mumbai.

She has been a member of the Board of Studies of many universities and autonomous colleges. Having authored 5 ISBN books, she has to her credit over 30 research papers, and publications at the State, National and International levels. These have been in the areas of Ergonomics, Occupational Health, and Consumerism*.

Her doctoral research in the area of Occupational Health focuses on Musculoskeletal Discomfort and Needle Sticks and Sharps Injuries among Nurses. It is the recipient of the highest state-level recognition for two consecutive years: The Gold Medal at the 13th Maharashtra State Avishkar Research Convention 2018 – 19 and a Silver Medal at the 12th Maharashtra State Avishkar Research Convention 2017 – 18.

She has guided about 15 research studies at the Master’s level in Sports Ergonomics and over 50 undergraduate research studies in Ergonomics and Occupational Health.

She pursues her academic and research interests as a Joint Secretary of IBERD (International Board for Education Research and Development, www.iberd.org). Dr. Roopa Rao is a regular speaker at several state and national level conferences, and educational institutes.

She is the district co-coordinator (Mumbai – I; South Mumbai) of, Avishkar Research Convention since 2019 and was appointed as the Team Manager to lead the University of Mumbai team at the 14th Avishkar Research Convention 2020, Anveshan West zone research convention 2020, and Anveshan National Research Convention 2020, and Anveshan National Research Convention 2022.

She has associated herself as a member of multiple organizations, such as the Indian Society for Ergonomics (ISE), Consumer Guidance Society of India (CGSI), Council for Fair Business Practices (CFBP), Indian Association for Women’s Studies (IAWS), and Indian Association of Occupational Health (IAOH).
