Dr. Ruchir Patidar
National Institute of Hydrology, Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee
About
I am a Scientist at the National Institute of Hydrology, Ministry of Jal Shakti, India, working in hydrology, hydroclimatology, and water resources. I did my M.Tech. and PhD from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Roorkee, India. My research interests include drought assessment, climate change impacts, groundwater and surface-water dynamics, hydrological instrumentation, and isotope hydrology. I use field observations, environmental tracers, remote sensing, GIS, statistical methods, and modelling to understand hydrological processes and support sustainable water resources management.
I was awarded the Hugh Robert Mill Award for Precipitation research 2025 by the Royal Meteorological Society, UK, becoming the first Indian Researcher since its inception in 1950. (https://www.rmets.org/rmets-awards/2025-winners/awards-advancing-science-2025)
