Indian Institute of Remote Sensing, ITC, Patna University
About
Shashi Kumar received a degree of Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Physics from Patna University, Patna, India, and M.Sc. Geoinformatics under the joint education program of IIRS, Dehradun, India, and The International Institute for Geo-Information Science and Earth Observation (ITC), Enschede, The Netherlands, and the Ph.D. degree from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Roorkee, India.
He is currently a Scientist in the Indian Institute of Remote Sensing (IIRS), ISRO, Dehradun, India. He is actively involved in the science team of NASA ISRO Synthetic Aperture Radar (NISAR) and ISRO Chandrayaan-2 missions. Shashi Kumar has worked as a member of the task group for Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) models for forest parameter retrieval under the partnership of Government of India (GoI) and United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Forest-PLUS program (2015-16). He has also provided his services as a member of the selection committee for Commonwealth Scholarship at the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Research Development (MHRD), Government of India (GoI). His professional contribution as an external expert includes the review of research articles of several journals, review of project works and scientific talk in national institutions and research and training centers. His research interest includes SAR remote sensing with special emphasis on polarimetric SAR, polarimetric SAR interferometry, and SAR tomography for structural and biophysical characterization of manmade and natural features.
