Dr. Gurleen Kaur Walia is working as an Associate Professor in the School of Electronics and Electrical Engineering, Lovely Professional University, Phagwara, Punjab, India. She did her Ph.D. from Guru Nanak Dev University, Regional Campus Jalandhar, Punjab, India in June 2020, M. Tech in Electronics and Communication Engineering from Punjabi University, Patiala, Punjab, India in 2011 and B. Tech with honors from Guru Nanak Dev University, Regional Campus Gurdaspur, Punjab, India in 2009. She qualified for the University Grants Commission-National Eligibility Test (UGC-NET) in 2015. She was awarded the University Grants Commission Junior Research Fellowship (UGC-JRF) in 2015 and the University Grants Commission Senior Research Fellowship (UGC-SRF) in 2017. She also qualified for GATE in 2015. Her research areas include nanotechnology, molecular dynamics, computational modeling, gas sensing, image processing, and artificial intelligence. Her Ph. D work primarily focussed on DFT study of sensing various gases using silicene. Virtual NanoLab Atomistix Toolkit (VNL-ATK) was used for the same. She is a life member of ISTE. She has 9 SCI journal publications, 12 publications in peer-reviewed journals, 7 book chapters, 10 conference publications, and presentations at 10 international and 6 national conferences. She successfully completed the SWAYAM–NPTEL Online Certification on Accreditation of Undergraduate Engineering Programme – As per SAR 2024–25 (23 February, 2026 –15 May, 2026), achieving a score of 88/100, reflecting proficiency in Outcome-Based Education (OBE) and NBA SAR 2024–25 accreditation practices. She also has 1 patent granted and 4 patents published into her account. One of her research papers was announced on the Physics Twitter channel and captured the cover page image for Volume 670 of Surface Science, Elsevier. She also won the best paper award in March 2019.
