Mekelle University, Unesp, Sichuan Agricultural University, Haramaya University, International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology, Hawassa University
About
He was born in 1986 in Tigray, Ethiopia. He attended Agbe Elementary School in Tigray for his elementary education and Alula Aba-Nega Preparatory and Secondary School in Abi-Adi, Tigray for his secondary education. He obtained his BSc degree in Applied Biology from the Faculty of Natural Science at Hawassa University and his MSc in Applied Genetics from Haramaya University, Ethiopia. He was employed as a permanent staff member by Mekelle University, Ethiopia, in August 2012 in the Department of Biotechnology. He received his PhD in Microbiology, with a major in Molecular microbiology, from Sichuan Agricultural University, China, in 2021. He worked as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Omics of Algae Group at the International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB), New Delhi, India, on "High-Value Compounds in Microalgae: An Omics Perspective," focusing on the enhancement of biofuel and other bio commodities such as nervonic acid and carotenoids through media engineering in native isolates of Scenedesmus and Ankistrodesmus species. In addition, currently he is pursuing his postdoctoral research fellow at the Department of Bioprocess Engineering and Biotechnology, School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, UNESP, Brazil, focusing on a multi-omics approach to bioindigoidine production in engineered Bacillus subtilis. He is a staff member of the Faculty of Biotechnology at Mekelle Institute of Technology (MIT), Mekelle University, Ethiopia.
