About
My research interests are in using a clinical informatics approach to build an expert system to assist in medical decision making. My clinical interests are in the intersection of Critical Care Medicine and Emergency Medicine.
I am currently engaged in the design, building and testing of a clinical expert system "Navya". Navya compares individual patients to thousands of similar patients in trials, guidelines, registries, electronic medical records and other datasets. Using effective search, modeling and analysis strategies, Navya is being built to predict the best therapeutic (or diagnostic) steps forward at the point of care for use by the patient or the provider. I have a working model of the system and two issued US patents in this area. I also have numerous peer review publications and book chapters on protocols for medical decision making and global health.
