About
Poonkuntran Shanmugam specialized in Computer and Information Technology with 20+ years of experience in academia. He is presently associating with VIT Bhopal University, as a Professor and Executive Dean for Computer Science and Engineering. He has executed 3 funded research projects worth 1.10 crores from DRDO, ISRO & MNRE. He received 2 seminar grants worth 4 lacs from AICTE-ISTE and Anna University, Chennai. He has published more than 90+ technical publications, authored 6 books, 3 edited books, 12 chapters, and holds 9 patents. He is a recipient of the Cognizant Best Faculty Award 2017-18 and served as a State Level Student Coordinator Position for Region VII, CSI, India in 2016-17. He is a lifetime member of IACSIT, Singapore, CSI, India, and ISTE, India. He has produced 3 PhD candidates. He has played a pivotal role in the development and implementation of innovative academic practices, setting up the state of art labs and office automation. His research areas of interest include information security, computer vision, artificial intelligence, and machine learning.
