About
I am a Lecturer and Researcher in Physiology and Pharmacology at the University of Kara (Togo), specializing in cancer pharmacology, toxicology, and natural product drug discovery. My research focuses on investigating the pharmacological and toxicological properties of natural and synthetic products, particularly medicinal plants with anticancer potential. My long-term goal is to contribute to the discovery and development of safe, effective, and evidence-based phytomedicines for cancer treatment.
I hold an M.Sc. (2017) and a Ph.D. (2022) in Physiology and Pharmacology from the University of Lomé, Togo. During my doctoral studies, I conducted collaborative research with JSS College of Pharmacy and JSS Medical College (Mysuru, India), where I strengthened my expertise in experimental pharmacology and cancer research. I also received hands-on training in molecular biology techniques for cancer research at the National Institute of Cancer Prevention and Research (NICPR), Noida, India.
In 2022, I was awarded a Postdoctoral Fellowship at the International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB), Cape Town, South Africa, where I joined the Cancer Genomics Group. My postdoctoral research focused on evaluating the anticancer activity of medicinal plant extracts against prostate cancer cell lines using molecular and genomic approaches, contributing to ongoing natural product-based drug discovery research.
Alongside my research, I have over 10 years of teaching experience and a strong interest in higher education and capacity building. I have completed formal training in innovative teaching methodologies through a Professional Teaching Diploma and a University Pedagogy Certificate. At the University of Kara, I teach Physiology and Pharmacology and supervise undergraduate and postgraduate research projects.
My research interests include cancer pharmacology, pharmacology and toxicology of natural products, medicinal plants, natural product drug discovery, and translational cancer research. I welcome opportunities for scientific collaboration, multidisciplinary research, and international partnerships.
