About
Dr Syam Krishnan Nair is a Neurologist interested in the sub-specialty of Movement Disorders. He is currently a Professor of Neurology at Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology (SCTIMST), an Institute of National Importance under the Government of India and a tertiary care teaching hospital with the status of a university. After his doctoral neurology training at SCTIMST, Dr Nair joined the Institute as a faculty member. He was trained in movement disorders by Prof Asha Kishore, one of India's most senior movement disorder specialists. Dr Nair currently heads the Comprehensive Care Centre for Movement Disorders of the Institute, which is actively involved in clinical, academic and research activities in Movement Disorders and specialized intervention procedures like Deep Brain Stimulation, other functional neurosurgical procedures, and Botulinum Toxin Therapy. Dr Nair has also served as the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Kannur University, Kerala, India. He is also an active member of the International Parkinson and Movement Disorder Society (MDS), an executive committee member of Movement Disorders Society of India and the Associate Editor of the PubMed Indexed Journal “Annals of Indian Academy of Neurology”
