About
Dr. Suman Kumar Samanta, with a master’s degree in organic chemistry and a PhD in biochemistry from the CSIR-Indian Institute of Chemical Biology, Kolkata, has built an illustrious career in biomedical research. Following post-doctoral studies at the University of Pittsburgh (2014–2016), where he gained expertise in advanced biomedical sciences, Dr. Samanta joined the Institute of Advanced Study in Science and Technology (IASST), India, as Scientist C in 2017, contributing significantly to natural product chemistry. Currently a senior research faculty member at Assam down town University, he leads pioneering efforts in molecular pharmacology, drug discovery, and cancer biology. His research, focused on tumor biology and the therapeutic potential of indigenous medicinal plants, has resulted in over 40 publications in top-tier journals such as Journal of the National Cancer Institute (JNCI), Journal of Medicinal Chemistry, Cancer Letters, International Journal of Cancer, and Pharmacological Research and includes one international and two national patents. Dr. Samanta’s work exemplifies the synthesis of traditional knowledge with modern science, offering innovative solutions for cancer treatment and beyond.
