About
I am a Scientist-G (Retd.) of the Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education (ICFRE), Dehradun (an autonomous council under Ministry of Environment & Forest, Govt. of India) and former Group Coordinator (Research) at Institute of Wood Science and Technology, Bengaluru. I worked as Director of the Himalayan Forest Research Institute, Shimla from 26 May 2014 to 25 May 2019 and worked as FAO fellow for one year (March 1995 to Feb. 1996) at the Institute of Forest Management and Yield Science, University of Goettingen (Germany). I was awarded Brandis Prize in the year 1998 by the Indian Forester for publishing most outstanding paper in the field of Silviculture & Forest Management. I visited twice to the University of Goettingen, Germany under short-term study and research visit (Aug.-Sept. 2002 and Dec. 2005-Feb. 2006) of DAAD. I got ITTO Fellowship in 2010 and Erasmus-Mundus SmartLink Action 2 Project Fellowship in 2016. I have authored 92 research papers in various peer reviewed international journals, 11 book chapters and has nine original/edited books to my credit. I have also presented 60 papers in various International & National Conferences and Workshops. I am National Subject Matter Coordinator on 'Forest Biometrics' in the ICFRE. I have been Deputy Coordinator IUFRO Div. 4, unit 04.01.03 (Instruments and Methods in Forest Mensuration, Associate Editor of the Springer journal 'Forest Ecosystems', and Member, Editorial Advisory Board of 'Current World Environment'. I am also in the UNCCD Roaster of Experts from India. Presently, working as the President of International Society of Tropical Foresters India Chapter
