About
Dr. Shakeel Ahmad Khan is M. Sc. in Environmental Sciences (1996) from Dr. R. M. L. Avadh University, Faizabad, Uttar Pradesh. After his post-graduation, he worked for Indian Institute of Rural Management (IIRM), Jaipur as Fellow and Somaiya Organics Ltd. as ETP manager.
Later (1999), he awarded with the prestigious Senior Research Fellowship of the ICAR-Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI), New Delhi and joined as the Ph.D. Scholar in Environmental Sciences discipline. He awarded the Ph.D. in 2003. He has also done PG Diploma in Environmental Law from the prestigious Indian Law Institute (ILI) of New Delhi, India.
Dr. S. A. Khan got the first rank in merit of Agricultural Research Services (ARS) in Environmental Sciences discipline (2001) and also qualified the National Eligibility Test (NET) thrice from UGC (2001) and ICAR (1998 & 2001). Since July 2003, he has been working as an environmental scientist in the Division of Environmental Sciences, ICAR-IARI New Delhi. Dr. Khan has significantly contributed in the field of Sustainable development and conservation. Dr. Khan is having 25 years of teaching and research experience in the field of Environmental Sciences and guided 14 students. Dr. Khan is reviewer of many national and international journals and has published more than 50 papers in high impact journals. Earlier, he had worked on heavy metal pollution problems of peri-urban agriculture of Delhi and impact assessment of Bt cotton on soil microbiology. He has worked on the Impact assessment of gas based power plant on crops and suggested that these gas based power plants are sustainable and environmental friendly in comparison to thermal power plants. Dr. Khan is having expertise in waste management, phytoremediation, phycoremediation of waste water, microalgal biodiesel, air pollution, climate change, EIA, EMP, GHGs mitigation and ecosystem services.
Dr. Khan is a senior member of the International Association of Computer Science and Information Technology (IACSIT), International Society for Environmental Information Sciences (ISEIS), Canada, International Society for Agricultural Meteorology and Society for conservation of Nature, New Delhi. Dr. Khan is the General Secretary of National Environmental Sciences Academy (NESA), New Delhi. Dr. Khan has organized the international conferences and worked for the accomplishment of sustainable development goals.
