About
Dr. Saroj Koul is Professor of Supply Chain Management at Jindal Global Business School, India. She has 35 years of combined experience in the industry and academia. She earned her PhD from IIT Delhi, a Master’s in Systems Engineering and Operations Research from IIT Roorkee, and a Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering from the University of Kashmir. She spent 24 years at Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited, where she held roles involving techno-economic analysis, technology acquisition, organizational restructuring, and business strategy, before transitioning full-time into academia. She has over 14 years of teaching experience in India and North America.
Dr. Koul has published more than 45 refereed papers and two books. Her recent research spans system dynamics, digital transformation, healthcare operations, sustainability, SME competitiveness, and data privacy in digital credit ecosystems. She has received numerous awards, including the National Education Award (2012), the OP Jindal Teaching Excellence Award (2014), the Professor Indira Parikh 50 Women in Education Leader Award (2018), and the 100 Most Dedicated Professors Award (2019). Her research has been recognized with OP Jindal Research Excellence Awards, the AIMS–Great Lakes Outstanding Woman in Management Research Award (Gold Medal, 2013), and the AIMS International Outstanding Management Researcher Award (2019). She has also received multiple Best Paper Awards and has led funded projects on Balanced Scorecard applications, SME manufacturing strategy, and data privacy in digital credit services. Her current work explores digital twins, AI‑enabled supply chains, and organizational communication in technology‑driven environments.
She is a life member of the System Dynamics Society of India, the Institute of Materials Management, and CILT‑India. She serves on the editorial boards of international journals and advises educational institutions in India. Her research agenda integrates modelling‑based decision support, digital supply chain transformation, and policy‑oriented research for emerging markets.
