A postdoctoral researcher at the School of Medicine, Dept. of Infectious Diseases, Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, MD, focusing my research on host-directed therapy for the treatment of TB; aiming to enhance the host's immune system's ability to effectively eliminate TB.
Previously, during my first postdoc at the University of Georgia, Athens, GA, actively engaged in the quest to identify host-directed therapeutic targets by investigating the immune metabolism of primary human macrophages infected with M. tuberculosis.
During my doctoral studies, I was focused on the role of Epigenetics in TB infection in the pediatric population. Changes/modifications observed in DNA methylation, inflammatory genes' expression, and miRNA levels are interlinked with each other and influenced by M. tuberculosis infection in childhood TB. The findings suggest that the epigenetic changes support the TB disease pathogenesis in the pediatric TB population.
