About
S. K. Tyagi, presently working as Professor at Department of Energy Science and Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology Delhi since Nov. 2024, and joined as Associate Professor on 10th April, 2017 at the same department. Earlier he was working as Director/Scientist-E at Sardar Swaran Singh National Institute of Renewable Energy, Kapurthala. He has also worked as Assistant Professor at SMVDU, Katra (J&K). Prior to this he has been Invited Scientist at Korea Institute of Energy Research, South Korea, and Post-Doctoral Fellow at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hong Kong, Zhejiang University, Hangzhou and Xiamen University, Xiamen, China during 2002–2008.
Dr. Tyagi has more than 30 years of research experience and expertise in the area of renewable (clean) energy and made a significant contribution in RD&D activities. He has published more than 300 articles of repute, have more than > 12,600 citations, 06 books, and 15 chapters and guided 15 Ph.D. Theses (10 on-going) and 16 M.Tech. (04 on-going) Projects.
He has developed clean biomass combustion technology having emission of PM2.5 and CO much lesser than that of the LPG stove which are being deployed for cooking and process heating applications in the rural part of the country. His team is also working on biomass to value added products and smoke-free jaggery production, altogether have generated 06 patents.
So far, he has completed several RD&D projects (PI/Co-PI) of >500 million INR funded by CPRI-MoP, CPCB, MNRE, CSIR, DRDO, British Council, 03 Indian Industries, etc. He is member several reputed societies such as, Indian Science Congress, Indian Physics Association, Solar Energy Society of India, Indian Society for Heating, Refrigeration, Airconditioning Engineers (ISHRAE). Dr. Tyagi has also been recognized among top 1% of global scientists in the field of Energy from 2020 onwards.
