About
Dr. Balaram Kundu graduated in Mechanical Engineering from NIT Durgapur in 1993, completed his postgraduate studies in Thermal Engineering from IIESTS in 1995, and earned his PhD in Mechanical Engineering from IIT Kharagpur, India in 2000.
Dr. Kundu has a notable academic career in Mechanical Engineering, starting as a Lecturer at Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College from 1998 to 2002. In 2003, he became a Senior Lecturer at Jadavpur University, where he progressed through the ranks to become Reader, Associate Professor, and Full Professor in the same department. His journey is inspiring for aspiring academics in the field.
Dr. Kundu's international academic career began in 2007 with a month-long visit to Saga University in Japan as a visiting faculty member. He then served as a Research Professor at Hanyang University in South Korea from 2010 to 2012 under the Brain Korea 21 program. He has since continued to engage with Hanyang University as a visiting research professor, conducting collaborative research in countries such as Japan, the USA, Thailand, and Turkey.
Dr. Kundu is internationally recognized, having been ranked by Stanford University among the top 2% of scientists globally for the period 2020-2025. His research spans various topics, including heat transfer in composite materials, nanomaterials, hyperthermia treatment, biological heat transfer, solar collectors, thermal insulation, heat exchangers, electro-osmotic flow, thermoelectric generators, and fractional derivatives.
