About

Dr. Joydeepa is a medical doctor, researcher, and public health professional with extensive experience in primary care , leprosy and its complications, disability prevention, and rehabilitation. She is actively involved in clinical care, operational research, training, and programme development, with a particular focus on leprosy complications, childhood leprosy, disability management, stigma, and community-based approaches to inclusion and empowerment.

Her research interests include leprosy reactions, child leprosy, antimicrobial resistance, clinical trials, multimorbidity, rehabilitation, health systems strengthening, and implementation research in low-resource settings. She has contributed to several national and international research collaborations, including prospective studies, clinical trials, mixed-methods research, and guideline development.

Dr. Joy is also engaged in strategic planning and capacity building within healthcare and mission-driven organizations, contributing to initiatives on ethical leadership, holistic care, and inclusive health systems. In addition to her scientific work, she is a writer and storyteller who values compassionate, people-centred approaches to healthcare and research.
