About
I am Dr. Shagun Varshney, and I am currently serving as the Assistant Professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Ganpat University, Mehsana, Gujarat. I was previously associated with IIT Bombay for my postdoctoral studies, and I hold a Ph.D. in Biomaterials from IIIT Allahabad. During my M.Tech from MNNIT Allahabad, I was awarded the Institute Gold Medal for academic excellence. I completed my B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering at MMMUT Gorakhpur. I'm a dynamic and self-motivated individual with over six years of experience working in Mechanical, Material science, and Biomedical research domains and over eight years of experience in the Ed-Tech industry. I have rich experience in material synthesis, physio-chemical, and biological characterization for potential biomedical applications. I am also experienced in curriculum design and interdisciplinary research activities. My core area of research is related to the chemo-mechanical isolation of nanocellulose from agricultural waste and the fabrication of its polymer-based biocomposites for potential biomedical applications, including wound healing, drug delivery, etc. My work explores the synthesis and optimization of biomaterials for various applications, from regenerative medicine to targeted drug delivery systems. By leveraging the latest advancements in material science, I strive to create solutions that address critical challenges in tissue engineering and organ repair. Integrating smart materials and nanotechnology into my research reflects a commitment to pushing the boundaries of what is possible in biomaterials, ensuring that my contributions are at the forefront of medical and technological progress. Through collaborative projects and interdisciplinary approaches, I am contributing to developing next-generation biomaterials that promise to transform healthcare practices and enhance the quality of life for patients worldwide. Previously, I was awarded the YOUNG SCIENTIST AWARD 2023 for Contribution and Honourable Achievement in Innovative Research under the 6th Edition of International Research Awards on ADVANCED NANOMATERIALS AND NANOTECHNOLOGY. I am also a recipient of the YOUNG ACHIEVER AWARD 2023 by INSC Institute of Scholars for the research work entitled "Antibacterial, Structural, and Mechanical Properties of MgO/ZnO Nanocomposites and its HA-Based Bio-Ceramics; Synthesized via Physio-Chemical Route for Biomedical Applications." So far, I have published several research and review articles in reputed peer-reviewed journals with SCI/SCIE and SCOPUS indexing. I also have a YouTube channel named Mech Zone, where I have successfully mentored over 100000 students for GATE, ESE, and other prestigious competitive examinations. My students have been selected by reputed organizations, including railways, IITs, NITs, etc. Apart from academics, I also have corporate experience, wherein I was previously associated with JoVE as a Curriculum Specialist. My role was to curate course-specific video-based playlists for STEM-based curriculum. I have also actively participated in and coordinated several extracurricular activities, including event hosting, management, etc.
