About

Dr. Sugunakar Vure is a translational cancer researcher with more than two decades of experience spanning academic research, clinical oncology, molecular diagnostics, and the biotechnology industry. His research interests focus on translational oncology, cancer genomics and epigenetics, molecular genetics, precision medicine, and biomarker development, with particular emphasis on acute leukemias, including acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL). His work integrates genomic and molecular technologies, next-generation sequencing, transcriptomics, epigenomics, minimal residual disease (MRD) assessment, liquid biopsy, and molecular diagnostics to understand disease biology, treatment response, and mechanisms of relapse. He received his doctoral training followed by postdoctoral research experience at ICMR–National Institute of Nutrition, India, and Chungnam National University, South Korea, and was a recipient of the ICMR Centenary Post-Doctoral Research Fellowship.

Dr. Vure currently serves as Senior Scientist and Principal Investigator at the Indo-American Cancer Research Foundation (IACRF), Basavatarakam Indo-American Cancer Hospital & Research Institute, Hyderabad, India, where he is involved in developing and leading translational research programs that bridge laboratory discoveries with clinical applications. His ongoing research encompasses acute leukemia MRD, cancer genomics, radiogenomics, HPV-associated cervical cancer biomarkers, immune profiling, and the integration of artificial intelligence and multi-omics approaches in precision oncology. He actively contributes to multi-institutional research collaborations, investigator-driven clinical and translational studies, research capacity building, and mentorship of young researchers. His long-term scientific vision is to establish integrated platforms combining genomics, multi-omics, AI, MRD, molecular diagnostics, and clinically annotated biobanking to enable earlier diagnosis, improved risk stratification, treatment monitoring, and personalized therapeutic decision-making for patients with hematological malignancies and solid tumors.
