SAMIMA KHATUN
Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, Jadavpur University, National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research Department of Pharmaceutical Analysis, Dr. Hari Singh Gour University
About
Samima Khatun is a passionate medicinal chemist currently working as a Senior Research Fellow at the Department of Pharmaceutical Technology, Jadavpur University, Kolkata. She earned her M.S.(Pharm.) in Medicinal Chemistry from NIPER, SAS Nagar, Mohali and B.Pharm from Dr. Hari Singh Gour University, Sagar, M.P. She has previously held research positions at NIPER, Mohali and at Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf, Germany. Her research focuses on the design and development of selective HDAC8 inhibitors targeting various cancers, including lung cancer and hematological malignancies, and her work has been supported by prestigious funding bodies such as CSIR, DST, DBT, and Germany’s BMBF. With over 20 peer-reviewed publications, she has made impactful contributions to drug discovery and computational medicinal chemistry. She has earned several prestigious distinctions, including the DST Women in Science and Engineering (WISE) Fellowship, the CSIR-Direct Senior Research Fellowship, and, most notably, the Best Oral Presentation Award sponsored by ACS at the International Symposium on “Innovations in Translational Therapy & Targeted Drug Delivery” organized by BITS Pilani, Hyderabad Campus. Beyond the lab, she is an avid badminton enthusiast, balancing her scientific rigor with athletic discipline.
