Throughout my academic career, I have been committed to advancing medical education, biomedical research, laboratory medicine, institutional governance, and community healthcare. Since the inception of AIIMS Raipur, my professional journey has been guided by the vision of building a strong academic ecosystem that integrates high-quality undergraduate and postgraduate education, translational research, diagnostic excellence, and efficient institutional administration. I firmly believe that excellence in a medical institution is achieved when education, research, diagnostics, and governance function in seamless synergy for societal benefit.
As Professor and Head of the Department of Biochemistry, I have actively contributed to the academic and institutional growth of AIIMS Raipur during its formative phase. My initial priorities focused on establishing structured undergraduate and postgraduate teaching programmes, strengthening laboratory infrastructure, promoting a research culture, and fostering interdisciplinary collaboration. These efforts have helped shape the department into a robust academic unit contributing significantly to teaching, diagnostics, and research.
A major milestone in this journey has been the establishment of advanced laboratory facilities under my leadership, including the Metabolic Laboratory, Molecular Laboratory, Clinical Chemistry Laboratory, Immunology Laboratory, and Cell Culture Laboratory. These facilities have significantly strengthened diagnostic capabilities, postgraduate training, and translational research activities. They have enabled advanced investigations in molecular diagnostics, metabolic disorders, immunological diseases, biomarker research, and cell-based studies, bridging laboratory science with clinical medicine.
Research has remained central to my academic philosophy. I strongly believe that medical education must be driven by scientific inquiry and evidence-based practice. In this context, I have actively participated in four extramural sanctioned research projects as Principal Investigator and Co-Investigator. These projects reflect national-level recognition of our research capabilities and have strengthened infrastructure, fostered collaborations, and generated clinically relevant scientific evidence.
Alongside funded research, I have guided postgraduate and doctoral research as Guide and Co-guide for PhD scholars and supervised MD and MBBS research work. My mentorship approach emphasizes scientific integrity, methodological rigor, ethical research practices, and independent critical thinking. Several students under my guidance have received awards for paper presentations at national conferences.
As Head of the Department, I have consistently worked to enhance teaching quality through competency-based medical education, evidence-based learning, and research-oriented pedagogy. Regular academic activities such as journal clubs, seminars, case discussions, and interdisciplinary teaching sessions have been strengthened to promote analytical thinking and clinical correlation.
In addition to academic responsibilities, I have served in key administrative leadership roles, including Dean of Examinations, Dean Academics, and Presiding Officer of the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC), contributing to institutional governance, academic reforms, examination systems, and student welfare.
As Dean of Examinations, I was responsible for conducting examinations across MBBS, MD/MS, DM/MCh, PhD, Nursing, and Paramedical programmes. My focus was to ensure fairness, confidentiality, and integrity in all assessment processes. Examination policies were strengthened in alignment with National Medical Commission guidelines. Examination scheduling was streamlined, and processes such as question paper setting, moderation, secure handling of materials, and examiner coordination were improved. Technology-enabled systems enhanced transparency and efficiency, and grievance redressal mechanisms ensured fairness and credibility.
On 16 April 2026, I assumed the role of Dean Academics after completing my tenure as Dean of Examinations. In this role, I focused on academic governance, faculty development, curriculum enhancement, and student support systems.
My academic contributions have been recognized through several awards and honours, including the Special Award at ACCLMPCON (2025), Fellowship of AMBI (2023), Fellowship of IMSA (2022), felicitation by AIIMS Raipur ENT Department (2022), Bio-Rad Certificate of Excellence, Achievement Award from Hi-Tech Medical College (2011), and Pitabus–Jamuna Memorial Award (1997).
